The Golden City, Dubai

Well, as you all know and hear about Dubai, it’s a luxurious shopping paradise with ultra-modern architecture and lively nightlife scenery. Looking through Dubai’s beauty elements, Burj Khalifa, the tallest of them all is a 160-story skyscraper, ruling Dubai’s skyscrapers skyline, and featuring a tremendous view on its observation deck. Just down its stream lies Dubai fountain, with lights and jets synchronized to music. Not even that, but offshore of the artificial palm islands is Atlantis, The palm, a 5 stars resort with water and marine animal parks.  

The moment I landed the marvelous Dubai International Airport, I took a deep breath to start my adventure in beautiful Dubai. I grabbed a taxi to my hotel Armada BlueBay located at Jumeirah Lakes towers. I precisely picked a hotel at this location because it was a walking distance to Dubai Marina, which is a perfect spot for my morning jog. 

From Burj khalifa to Jumeirah lakes, here are Dubai’s must-see attractions: 

1- Dubai Mall 

Type: Shopping, indoor entertainment 

Half Day to Full Day Time to Spend 

The enormous Dubai Mall scores the largest shopping center in the world featuring 1,200 stores. If you are shopaholic or not even interested in buying anything, this shopping paradise is a must visit. Dubai mall doesn’t only mark as Dubai’s downtown shopping paradise, but it also has numerous entertainment facilities, such as a movie theatre , an ice rink and several kids friendly attractions, this includes an aquarium that attributes more than 30,000 underwater creatures. You also must pop into Dubai mall at night, and stop by the Dubai fountain outside the mall, the fountain hosts nightly shows set to a mix of eastern and western music. 

The best way to get there is to take the metro to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Station. The Dubai mall opens from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday to Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to midnight from Thursday to Saturday. To wander around is completely free of charge, but certain attractions inside the mall will charge admission fees, if you wish to find out more about those attractions fees, visit the Dubai Mall website.   

2- Burj Khalifa 

Type: Sightseeing  

1 to 2 hours Time to Spend 

This is  must visit item on any Dubai agenda, Burj Khalifa proudly holds the title of “the worlds tallest building.” Not only that, but it also the title of the worlds tallest free standing structure and hosts the highest outdoor observation deck. You are definitely thinking the same thing I’m thinking: gorgeous views. You also can purchase your ride up ticket to the 124th floor and experience breathtaking city vistas extending all the way around the Persian gulf. The observation deck landing on the 148th floor  houses special telescopes that visitors can use to show the city at different points in time. Showing the city’s stages through out the history, but it will certainly cost you extra. 

You can easily get into Burj Khalifa through Burj Khalifa/Dubai mall metro station. You can also, visit the observation deck anytime from 9 am to 10 pm daily. However, admission prices vary depending o  the time you go and which floor you wish to go up to. But generally it costs between 125 – 350 dirhams (roughly 34 – 95$).  

3- Jumeirah Beach 

Type: Beaches  

2 hours to Half Day Time to Spend 

Within a walking distance of Burj Khalifa, lies Dubai’s best shoreline of public sand. Beach lovers come to this vibrant beach to celebrate Dubai’s sunrays. Make sure you hit there early as the crowd grows steadily throughout the day, and don’t forget to tag along a bottled water and sunscreen as the sun hits its strongest strikes during the mid of the day. its noteworthy that The beach also equips water sports, kids playgrounds and plenty of picnic and barbecue areas. 

Jumeirah Beach can be reached easily from Jumeirah Road and it opens from 7 am to 11 pm. There’s a n Admission fee of 5 dirhams (around $1.25) per person. 

4- Burj Al Arab 

Type: Sightseeing  

1 to 2 hours Time to Spend 

This striking structure overlooks the Persian gulf, this outstanding building has charmed architecture buffs since its opening in 1999. The curved curtain wall that is modeled after the sails that dignified Dubai’s waterways, houses a world class, luxurious hotel situated on its own man made island. If you don’t have the budget to stay over the night, grabbing an afternoon tea is a great idea to enjoy the ambiance of this property.  

5- Dubai Marina  

Type: Sightseeing, Eateries 

2 to 4 hours Time to Spend 

I personally enjoyed walking along this promenade, it feels lime it captures the “essence” of Dubai. With a simple walk around Dubai Marina, you will see stunning yachts, people dining out in a variety restaurants, bars, cafes. It literally feels like a perfect atmosphere for a night out, as its very vibrant with fabulous views across the bay. The more you walk the more you blend into the spectacular buildings that serve as a perfect backdrop to the overall scenery. The near by residence make this path their jog/walk track. Its worth mentioning grabbing the waterbus to the other side is such a fun experience to Dubai marina Mall, the mall serves as a nice break from the desert heat. 

My Stay at Hotel Armada Blue Bay: 

Armada Blue Bay hotel is about 20 minutes away by car from Burj Halifax and Dubai Mall. Dubai International Airport is 29 kilometers away. The hotel itself is located very conveniently, as it lies in one of the spectacular by the jumeirah lakes, opposite to emirates hills and very close to the business and financial district. There is also a near by 10 minutes walk metro station. This is also where the crosswalk is, in case you want to walk to the Dubai marina or Dubai Marina Mall, or the beach; it’s approximately about a 17-20 minute walk.
